What sections are restricted to members only?

Where do I find information concerning the different sections?
You can find information about services free of charge here. Information about the Knowledge Centre is available under FAQ in the Knowledge Centre.
Why is there a yearly membership fee for access to the Knowledge Centre?
Conservation Web vzw is a non-profit organization with no income from preservation or conservation activities. However the organization has, like any other organization, operational costs, such as secretary's office, developing, updating and hosting of the website, investment in acquiring information.
To cover these costs Conservation Web vzw asks a yearly contribution to access and consult the information in the Knowledge Centre. It also tries to generate some income from advertisers and sponsors.
How do I become a member of Conservation Web vzw?
You can become a member of Conservation Web vzw by filling in the application form and pay the yearly contribution that fits your profile. Your membership starts as soon as we have received your payment. You will then receive a login and a password. Institutions and organizations willing to receive an invoice can mention this on their application form.
The membership fee is always due for a full calendar year. The amount of the fee due can be found here.

What can I access on the site as a member?
As a member you can access all sections of the website, including the Knowledge Centre with its terminology, bibliography, publications and manual. For more information click here.
All information on the website is subjected to copyright laws. It is prohibited to copy, store or disseminate this information or part of it in whatever form being it electronically, in print, recording or other, without prior consent of the copyright holder.
What other benefits do I have as a member?
Members have also membership benefits. Conservation Web vzw tries to get membership benefits for their members from companies or from organizers of events. These benefits can be rebates on materials, services or events or merely presents. You can find membership benefits here.
In the future Conservation Web vzw wants to organize activities concerning conservation together with other organizations. Members will receive a rebate when subscribing.
Member institutions or organizations have the possibilities to post, free of charge, job vacancies for paid professionals or volunteers in the field of conservation.
What can I do as a member for Conservation Web vzw?
Conservation Web vzw welcomes any collaboration with individuals, organizations or institutions who feel sympathetic towards our objectives. All information and suggestions are welcome.
Members are invited to send us any information relevant to our core activities.

What is the register?
The register is a database of persons and companies who actively offer services related to preservation, conservation or restoration of art and cultural heritage.
Who can register in this database?
Anyone who complies with the abovementioned criteria and who accepts, underwrite and works according to the professional ethical code.
What are the benefits of subscribing to this database?
The register is accessible, free of charge, to all visitors. Institutions, organizations as well as individuals can freely search the database for a person or company offering preservation, conservation and restoration services. Subscribing to the database brings you in immediate contact with your potential customers.
Anyone registering receives his own web page where he can publish all relevant information. From here a link is made to his own website.
Subscribers have the right to post two articles in the publication database of the website.
Anyone registering automatically receives the benefits of membership of Conservation Web vzw and has access to all sections of the site.
Registered professionals also receive the membership benefits given by companies, institutions or organizations. Membership benefits can be found here
All new registered professionals receive automatically every new newsletter, unless otherwise specified.
How do I register?
You can register by filling in the application form and paying the appropriate contribution. Registering is a fact as soon as the application is accepted and the contribution has been received. A login and password will then be sent to you.
The applicant has to fill in his education related to conservation, his experience and references on the application form. This information will be shown on his page on this web site. Furthermore the applicant hat to declare that he accepts and works according the professional ethical code of conduct as published on this website.
Applicants who do not comply with these conditions will be refused. Conservation Web vzw reserves itself the right to refuse applicants without no further reason.
What does registering costs?
The registering fee for individual persons is 200 euros a year, companies pay 500 euro for up to 5 employees (VAT not inclusive) and companies with more than 5 employees pay 750 euro (VAT not inclusive).
After receiving your application and payment you will be inserted in the register with a personal page and receive your login and password for the Knowledge Centre.

What is the business guide?
The business guide is a database of companies who sell materials or provide services related, directly or indirectly, to preservation, conservation or restoration of art and cultural heritage.
Who can subscribe to this business guide?
All companies, small or large, that complies with the abovementioned criteria, offer a qualitative service and pay the fee due for registering can subscribe to the database.
What are the benefits of subscribing to this database?
The business guide is accessible, free of charge, to all visitors. Institutions, organizations as well as individuals can freely search the database for companies selling materials or offering services related to preservation, conservation and restoration services. Subscribing to the database brings you in immediate contact with your potential customers.
The website has been made known to more than 2000 archives, libraries and museums and we are constantly promoting our website and organization in more European countries.
When advertising in our business guide your presence is permanently visible for our visitors as in contrast to advertising in a magazine, where your presence is sporadic and easily forgotten.
Every registering company receives its own web page where it can publish all relevant information. From here a link is made to his its website.
Subscribers have the right to post two projects in the publication database of the website.
There is also the possibility to inform your target group of new available products of materials through our newsletter.
All new registered companies receive automatically our newsletter, unless otherwise specified.
What are member benefits?
A member benefit is a kind of rebate a company offers to members of Conservation Web vzw. This benefit can consist of a rebate on certain materials or services, a present or some other promotion.
Every company is free to offer member benefits to our members or not. They decide what benefit they gave, for which period of time, for which country and under what conditions. Benefits should be submitted to Conservation Web vzw for approval.
Companies offering member benefits will receive a "member benefit icon" alongside their name. This way members will immediately see what companies offer them a benefit, maybe stimulating them to visit your webpage.
How do I subscribe to the business guide?
You can subscribe by filling in the application form and send it to us. You will then receive an invoice. Your subscription will be activated as soon as we have received your payment.
What does subscribing cost?
The subscription fee for companies is 750 euros per calendar year (VAT not inclusive). Companies receive an invoice made up according to the information they have provided. All sums are to be paid in full. Taxes for bank transfers are to be paid by the company. The best way to avoid costs is to pay by European bank transfer.
Invoices for the following year are sent at the end of the current year.
